Last dance
08.08.04 (1:41 am)   [edit]
Well, our overnight DJ's last night is tonight, in 1.5 hours he'll be gone, and the person that is SUPPOSED to be acting like a Program Director has done exactly dick about it. The really funny part is that we're already short 2 DJs, now we're going to be down 3. I'm supposed to be a weekend-only employee - I work full-time during the week, doing geek things. The DJ job is just so I can have a little fun on the weekends. This last week, though, I've worked 6 days, 2 of them with double shifts. I've put in over 40 hours each week for the last 3 weeks now. I wouldn't mind, but the radio station is an hour outside of town, it's $5.50/hour ( this being a year that I've been here, plus me telling them to give me a raise if they wanted to work me more than weekends, I finally got a $.50 raise),there is no overtime (Radio Stations, operating in the 'public interest', are one of the few businesses exempt from that law), there are no benefits (I'm part time, remember?), no holiday pay (We're exempt!), etc.

Phew! I feel better getting that off my chest. Now, wonder how long it will be before we get a new DJ. Wonder if D has even looked...

In other news, I'm getting really tired of people who can't take no for an answer... I've got someone I consider an acquaintance (not even a friend, I don't know her that well) who has a crush on me. I said 'not interested', what the hell else do you want? A book? A diagram? She's not even in the same DECADE as me! I've done my growing up, I'm looking to settle down.I don't want to babysit someone who wants to date me... Not my thing, thank you very much. Grr. Grr, I say. Grr.

Sorry, no humour today, I guess I'm just a little pissy. :-)

AmigaOne
08.05.04 (11:25 pm)   [edit]
Had to go to the cities (3 hour drive) yesterday to fix a computer that had gotten a keylogger (amongst other things) installed on it. Got everything but the keylogger repaired remotely, but this last one was a piece of work - Not only set +r +h +s, but whoever wrote the installer figured out a way to make it protected even in the recovery console... I had to boot Knoppix on the box, then it came out like buttah...

Oh, did I mention I'm a geek?

While I was down there, I stopped in at the very first computer place I ever worked at (and still do the occasional odd job for), a Commodore store. I got to see an actual functioning AmigaOne! I wanted to cry, it was so gorgeous! Heck, now _I'M_ typing with one hand! ;-) I'll have to start saving dosh to pick one up to play with. (I even got to fix the problem it was having with DHCP. Hehe)

... I mentioned I'm a geek, right?

Also, picked up an ethernet card for my Amiga 3000 (or my 2000, depending on which one I want to have online. Probably the 3000). I'm currently trying to set that up & get it online, but I forgot that my 3000 doesn't have any software to speak of on it at the moment, so it's going to be interesting... No CD-ROM, no HD floppy (Just DD), etc etc... And I'm at work, which is an hour away from home, for the weekend. Time to be creative!

Closing thoughts:

o What is it with people and leaving their brights on while driving? Bastages!
o In america, the left lane is the PASSING LANE. Please, if you're an american, don't park your loser ass in the left lane and tool along at 55. You're being inconsiderate... And stupid. At least if you move to the right lane, you'll no longer be inconsiderate.
o Blasting your car stereo while driving slowly down the block does not make you look cool. It makes your plastic car body shake. You look funny as hell. Remember that. :-D

First Post!

Yeah it was a cheap jab at /. so what?

So I was asked recently if I had a blog. The individual that asked said I should have one, because they thought it would be funny (because I'm a funny guy, duh).

Here's my freakin' blog. Is it funny? IS IT?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Anyway, nothing popping into my head at the moment, so I'm going to end this.

Oh - random crap I find hilarious for whatever reason:

o Guys in chat rooms saying "Hello, ladies" (or any sentence with 'ladies' in it, for that matter).
o ASL? (Clue: Try chatting with 2 hands, moron!)
o Ebola Money Man 'nuff said.
o People who use IE and Outlook/Outlook Express, and wonder why they keep getting infected with virii and spyware. ( C'mon, Darwinism! )
o Drunk philosophers. You know what I mean.
o Anyone who calls themselves an "artist" and takes themselves seriously. (You're a bum! Deal.)
